This paper examines the causal relationship between internal forced displacement and the Aerial Spraying Program with Glyphosate (PECIG) implemented under Plan Colombia. To address endogeneity concerns arising from the program's correlation with conflict dynamics, the analysis employs an instrumental variable (IV) approach. The results indicate that a one-percentage-point increase in spraying intensity leads to a 4.29-percentage-point rise in displacement rates over a three-month period following the intervention. Furthermore, the findings suggest that repeated fumigations and high levels of coca cultivation operate as direct channels driving the observed increase in displacement induced by the PECIG.
