My research is concentrated in two fields, Political Economics and Public Economics. I mainly study voters’ and politicians' behavior under different democratic institutional settings and analyze the welfare and efficiency properties of both public resources allocation and institutions' performance in democratic environments. I intensively use in my research game theory tools, formal models, and, in some cases, econometric tools.

I currently coordinate the program Economics, Peace, and Region (EP&R). It offers our students an opportunity to work in economic analysis and in the design and development of public policies in small municipalities of the country.

From time to time I write and/or speak in the media.
