Un Modelo De Auto - Selección Para La Migración De Trabajadores Hacia La Región Central Cafetera De Colombia

Abstract

Este estudio presenta un modelo de elección discreta para examinar los determinantes de la decisión de migrar por parte de los trabajadores agrícolas que participan en la principal cosecha de la región central cafetera de Colombia. Para las estimaciones se utilizaron datos de una encuesta aplicada a 990 hogares de trabajadores en las principales regiones de origen de la mano de obra migratoria que participa en la cosecha cafetera. En las estimaciones se utiliza la técnica de Heckman para corregir posibles sesgos de auto-selección. Los resultados sugieren que el diferencial de ganancias que se obtienen por la participación en la migración tiene un efecto significativo en la decisión de migrar.
