JOB OPENINGS: TENURE TRACK AND POST-DOCTORAL POSITIONS

Assistant (or Associate) Professor Positions: any field

 The Department of Economics at Universidad de los Andes invites applications for tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall term of 2017. Exceptional senior applicants will also be considered. Candidates must show promise of outstanding scholarly achievement and have earned a Ph.D. degree by the appointment start date or shortly thereafter. Applicants working in any field of Economics are welcome. Calls for Assistant Professors in economic history/long-run development and Post-doctoral fellows in history of economic thought are also available (see separate listings).

Los Andes has the best Economics department in Colombia and ranks among the best in Latin America. New professors will find a work environment with a competitive salary, a generous yearly research stipend for the first three years, course-load reduction in their first year, and monetary bonuses for publications. Proficiency in Spanish is not required.

Assistant Professor in Economic History

The Department of Economics is searching for economists with solid quantitative skills and a clear research agenda in Economic History, open to pursue interdisciplinary approaches and with the ability to interact with related topics, including: long-term economic growth, political economy, applied microeconomics, finance, or monetary macroeconomics. The position may start in the Spring or Fall term of 2017.

Research and teaching in Economic History is a priority at the Department since its foundation. Courses are required for all students, from undergraduates to PhDs. New professors will find a work environment with a competitive salary, a generous yearly research stipend for the first three years, course-load reduction in their first year, and monetary bonuses for publications. Post-doctoral fellow in History of Economic Thought

 The Department of Economics at Universidad de los Andes invites applications for a Post-doctoral Fellow position in History of Economic Thought, beginning in the Spring or Fall term of 2017. We are searching for candidates with a clear research agenda and a solid formation in the History of Economics, Economic Methodology and/or Economic Philosophy, and a background in Economics. Candidates must be willing to design and teach courses on the topic with special emphasis in Economic Theory and its developments.

Post-doctoral fellows will be appointed for one to two years, with a competitive salary, a modest teaching load, and the possibility (upon evaluation) of starting a tenure-track position after completing the post-doc.
