History

Universidad de Los Andes created the International Summer School in 1997 with the goal of offering courses with the highest level of excellence to students and professors of the University and the academic community in Colombia. These courses have been extended to professionals of the public and private sector who seek more profound and updated knowledge in different economic areas.

Professors from other countries with an outstanding professional background are invited with the purpose of sharing recent developments and frontier issues in different areas of the study of economics.

Since 1997 twenty-three courses have been offered with 804 people attending. A good indicator of the recognition that our Summer School has received is the increasing number of participants. In 1997 we started out with 80 students and in 2004 we had 176.
